SafeCave safe rooms are designed to meet and exceed FEMA standards. Standing capacity is calculated at 3 square feet per person, while sitting capacity requires 6 square feet per person. Our team will work with you to design a safe room that fits your specific needs, ensuring everyone has adequate space.
Yes, all SafeCave safe rooms are rigorously tested to not only meet but exceed FEMA’s Windborne Debris Standards, ensuring maximum protection during extreme weather events.
Our saferooms are built with 3/16-inch industrial-grade steel panels coated in a durable, corrosion-resistant powder coat. Material thickness is only one variable however, our one of a kind double bend and welded panels create unmatched strength and structural integrity. The vault door also features double-walled construction, eight 1-inch-thick steel slide bolts and a sealed perimeter ensuring ultimate protection when it matters most.
The Safe Cave vault door combines strength and functionality, featuring a single-action mechanism that locks eight 1-inch-thick steel bolts with one twist. It also includes digital keyless entry, a manual override for redundancy, an inward-swinging design to prevent lock-ins, and an interior override to block unwanted outside access.
Yes, our safe rooms feature one of a kind active or sealed ventilation options. These ensure airflow while preventing debris, dust, or contaminants from entering.
At a base level, SafeCave comes standard with ASTM A36 3/16″ steel surrounding the entire room with our double bend & welded panels for unmatched strength and structural stability. Across the surface of the vault door are numerous layers of additional steel surfaces which are welded in place to create a vault door unlike anything in the market. For those customers wanting even more, the SafeCave can also be fitted with a UL752 Level 3 or Higher Ballistics Material that would be inserted into the inner door and surrounding walls.
SafeCave’s proprietary design allows for a multi-layer approach to fire resistance. In order to resist a fire event, a structure must be sealed from smoke / water and also insulated against extreme heat. SafeCave’s approach accomplishes these critical layers of protection at a base level with our proprietary sealed vault room. In addition, protecting against the elements of smoke & water, we apply a proven and lab tested joint application that comes with 2-hour fire protection in through-penetration applications per ASTM E 814 (UL 1479). Beyond this smoke/water sealing layer, any fire resistant space also needs an insulating barrier. SafeCave accomplishes this through a 2″ Ceramic Blanket which is engineered and designed under UL Standards 723 and commonly used for heat insulation in areas such as boiler rooms, stove pipes, etc. SafeCave’s proprietary multi-layer methodology doesn’t stop there however. By adding the inner core sealed layer, SafeCave’s one of a kind design creates an air gap redundancy between the outer extreme smoke/water/heat elements and the inner core. Through engineering and our extensive installation methodologies, SafeCave has created a first of it’s kind vault room to protect what matters most for you and your family.
Through SafeCave’s proprietary multi-layer & sealed design, we have created a redundant steel enclosure disconnected completely from any home circuitry which is intended to protect sensitive electronics. How does it work? When an external electromagnetic field (like radio waves, microwaves, or even static electricity) hits the steel & sealed SafeCave, it causes the electrons within the conductor to move and redistribute, also known as a Faraday cage.
